Over the past decade or so, NBA analyst Nick Wright has been one of the most outspoken supporters and protectors of LeBron James. He’s constantly lauding him and applauding every single thing he does, even on those few moments when he’s not doing that well.
That’s why it was a bit of a surprise to see that Wright took it to his Twitter account to show how unfazed he was by LeBron James’ outstanding performances in the NBA Finals this season, claiming that he could still do better:
“LeBron James hasn’t played his best basketball these Finals. He’s only averaging… 28 points per game, 11 rebounds per game, 9 assists per game on 53% from the field. He can be better,” Wright tweeted.

We’ll just assume that Wright is being sarcastic here. I mean, even by LeBron James’ otherwordly standards, averaging 28/11/9 on 53% shooting in the NBA Finals is quite impressive, let alone doing it at 35-years-old and in your 17th season.
It seemed like Anthony Davis was going to get away with the Finals MVP honors during the first couple of games of the series but he’s been far from impressive during Games 3 and 4, while James has been a steady contributor in both ends of the floor.
Should the Lakers close this out and win their 17th franchise title with The King as Finals MVP, LeBron would have now led three different teams and three different rosters to an NBA Championship while dominating in the ultimate stage 4 times in a decade. Love him or hate him, there’s simply anything you can take away from him at this point in his career.
