Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets will take on the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals, with the series beginning on Tuesday night. Both teams look dangerous, and it’s hard to say who will come out on top.

This matchup between the Lakers and the Nuggets is a rematch from the Bubble in 2020. The Lakers won that year, finishing the series in five games. Nikola Jokic was asked about what he learned from that experience recently, and he gave an answer that was typical of him but also hilarious.

“To be honest, nothing. I don’t remember it,” Jokic said.

Not remembering it might be the best way to approach the situation, but the Nuggets need to approach this like it’s any other series. They are very different from what they were three years ago, and Nikola Jokic has grown a lot since then. The Joker is now a two-time MVP and has shown he belongs on the list of the NBA’s greatest players, and he will be itching to display that against the Lakers.

There are many interesting matchups across the floor in this series, both teams have ways to attack one another. Outside of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Lakers’ entire roster is different from what it was in 2020, so this will be a fresh challenge for the Nuggets. Common sense dictates that the No. 1 seed should win, but counting out the Lakers at this point would be foolish.

The Lakers Are Concerned About How They Will Stop Nikola Jokic

Nikola Jokic is averaging 30.7 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 9.7 assists per game in these playoffs. It’s safe to say that he is impossible to stop on offense at the moment. There is nothing the Serbian superstar can’t do on that end of the floor, and as good as Anthony Davis is, nobody can fully stop Jokic at the moment. Darvin Ham joking about having to kidnap him goes to show just how much concern there is on this front.

Nikola Jokic has been compared to LeBron James by the Nuggets’ coach, and he seems to have reached that mythical level of dominance this season. But the real deal, the King himself, is on the other side. Darvin Ham had said LeBron James was saving his best for later in the playoffs. If that is indeed true, then this would be the series for James to get back to his dominant best and stop Jokic.
