Paul George is still among the best wing players in the NBA today. But fans will always wonder how his career may have panned out if he didn’t suffer from a horrific injury in 2014.
Yes, we are talking about when PG13 sustained an open fracture of his tibia and fibula. George recently revealed that boxing legend Floyd Mayweather visited him at the hospital daily for a week.
“After you get hurt as an athlete, it’s dark like it’s dark for you, you think about the worst, you think about all the negatives, you think about like what did I do wrong, why did this happen to me,” George said. “I wanna be that positive reinforcement to the athletes that go through this and wanna hear the testimony from it. When it happened to me outreach of everyone, I have heard from people that I didn’t know even knew me – calling at the hospital, sending messages, my phone was blowing up. … Floyd my guy, shout out to Floyd, no bulls**t. Floyd was there every day I was there in the hospital for a week. Real humble s**t love Floyd for that.”
"I was in the hospital for a week. Floyd [Mayweather] was there everyday."

Paul George suffered one of the most horrific injuries in the history of the NBA. At first, George didn’t realize how gruesome that injury was, but it didn’t take long for the then-Indiana Pacers superstar to perceive the seriousness of the injury.
George returned to the court just eight months after being injured. He is still a great player, but fans will never get to see the true potential of PG13.
Floyd Mayweather Was Proud Of Paul George’s Recovery From The 2014 Injury
As Paul George mentioned earlier, Floyd Mayweather may have been an unexpected support during his tough time, but it certainly helped him in his recovery.
Considering how fast George was back on the court and even became an MVP candidate during the 2018-19 NBA season, Mayweather took it to Instagram to share his message for the Los Angeles Clippers superstar.
“I was telling @ygtrece that I’m proud of him. He dealt with a severe injury and came back stronger. I also let him know I’m just like an NBA player because I ball everywhere I go. Lol.”
As of now, George is suffering from yet another injury and is sidelined during the Clippers’ final push of the season. Fortunately, he will reportedly be back on the roster by the time Clippers hypothetically reach the second round of the playoffs.
The organization will hope for George’s return, as the 32-year-old is a key player for the team, and his presence will bolster their chances of winning it all this season.
