Former NBA star Paul Pierce made a bold claim while sharing his thoughts on the scoring surge this season.

The likes of Luka Doncic and Donovan Mitchell set the league ablaze this year, propping in points in excess of 50 and the former Celtics mainstay felt he could have had more points had he played in the modern-day version.

Speaking on Showtime’s ‘Ticket and The Truth,’ Pierce shed light on players dropping big points regularly.

“I only ended up with one 50-point game in my career. This time and day, in this climate, I probably would have scored a little more.”

Pierce ended his career with 26, 397 points averaging 19.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists over the course of his decorated career.

NBA Fans React To Paul Pierce’s Claim Of Dropping More 50-Point Games

Pierce, a 19-season veteran in the league, had a legendary career, winning a title and a Finals MVP. He was a 10-time All-Star and is one of only three players to have scored more than 20,000 career points with Boston.

That said, fans had mixed responses when he made his claim. Some felt the present-day level of competition to a prime Pierce would easily see him drop massive points, while one segment felt it was impossible.

Paul continually enjoys talking about himself as if he was all-time great. He wasn’t. He’d be ok in today’s game but would get cooked on a lot of nights. Come on now

I swear some of y’all see PP and immediately go to the comments to hate. Probably didn’t listen to a word. Everything he said is facts. PP in his prime in today’s NBA… Multiple 50s no question

KG’s scoring numbers would probably grow even more than Pierce’s, because that mid-deep 2 that KG had dialed in would turn into a top of the key 3 with all the analytics today

He’s completely right . All the superstar players from the early 2000’s would of completely took advantage on how wide open the Lane is today and forsure they would of took advantage of that green light from 3 . You would get benched for shooting an half court Bomb with 16 seconds left on the shot clock in the early 2000’s

Paul retired like a few years ago? What era is he talking about lol

You don’t score over 26,000 being trash

Use this as the “Paul should just stop talking button”

Every take Paul has about basketball end up being about himself

Paul Pierce is on the top 75 list, stop hating!

Facts a young Paul Pierce was a bucket getter. Would have dropped 50 easy today.

Fan opinions aside, there is never a doubt of Pierce’s caliber and his elite scoring. He was a vital cog in the Celtics unit, and there is every possibility that he would post stellar numbers had he played in today’s NBA.
