It’s been a few weeks now since the tragic death of Kobe Bryant. And while the world is beginning to heal, nobody has forgotten.
For Quinn Cook and the Lakers organization in particular, the reality of Kobe’s death was especially hard. In an episode on Danny Green’s podcast, Cook spoke about how the death of the L.A. legend affected the team and how the mood on the team plane shifted.
“I look in front of me and I just see LeBron and AD and Randy and AB, Dwight — everybody was just crushed,” Cook said before describing the prayer LeBron James led on the plane. “[It] was very, very, very, powerful. And, after that, like Danny will tell you, I was crushed. I was crying the whole flight. I was absolutely destroyed.”
Words don’t quite describe Kobe’s impact on the Lakers organization. He ushered them through a 20-year era of greatness. He inspired a generation, started a movement, and proved that he could do the impossible.
For these, guys, who go to experience all of that first-hand, it must have stung to know that a guy seemingly so invincible lost his life so early and suddenly.
