Nikola Jokic has been a child prodigy when it comes to basketball, and rare footage of the recently-crowned NBA champion balling out has gone viral on the internet.

The video sees Jokic showcase his stunning skills. His game awareness and his physicality stand out among his peers, as does his versatility. His ability to run the offense like a point guard from an early age shows what has largely made him a successful center today.

Take a look at his finish in the paint. Jokic ensures that he knows where he is on the floor and is technically sound. He’s easy on the eye and that’s a rare quality in young players.

Quite simply, it all boils down to basics. Jokic’s fundamentals have been firmly ingrained in him. The results are out there, with the 28-year-old winning his maiden NBA championship with the Nuggets.

What Jokic lacks in immense athleticism, he makes up for it with his game IQ and his skill sets. It remains to be seen if the center can carve a name for himself as one the best big men in the league in the years to come.

Nikola Jokic’s Attitude Is His Biggest Strength

What sets a great player from a good player is the attitude they come with, and Jokic showed what made him a success when he spoke about his approach to winning.

“If you want to be successful, you need to be bad, then you need to be good. Then when you’re good, you need to fail. Then when you fail, you’re going to figure it out… There are no shortcuts. It’s a journey,” the Serbian reflected on his success.

Jokic was phenomenal in the playoffs averaging 30.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 9.5 assists. No teams could figure out how to stop him offensively and that was a major factor heading into the Nuggets championship run.

It remains to be seen if the Finals MVP can keep up this level of consistency in the upcoming season.
