Russell Westbrook impressed the Los Angeles Clippers after playing just 21 games with the team last season. He averaged 15.8 PPG, 4.9 RPG, and 7.6 APG in those games.

The 34-year-old’s numbers were enough for the Clippers to re-sign him to a two-year $8 million deal. Following his return, Westbrook addressed the Clipper Nation for the first time during a basketball camp at Jesse Owens Park.

“Clipper nation, what’s up, Russ here,” Brodie said. “I’m at Jesse Owens Park at my camp. But I just want to let you guys know I’m excited to be back.

“I’m looking forward to a great year. We’re going to turn up again. I’m excited to be back, looking forward to seeing you all at the games. Go Clippers.”

The Clippers were eliminated in the First Round of the 2023 playoffs. They were defeated 4-1 by the Phoenix Suns.

This season, the Clippers will aim to be better in the regular season and ultimately carry that form to the playoffs. The Clippers finished the 2022-23 season as the fifth seed in the Western Conference with a 44-38 record.

Russell Westbrook may no longer be in his prime, but he’s still a phenomenal player. He proved that last season by helping the Clippers reach the fifth seed in the West.

Head coach of the Clippers Tyronn Lue thanked Russell Westbrook for his contributions to the team in a recent interview.

“I love Russ. From Day 1… He’s a tough dude, tough-minded, What he did for our season, him, Plumlee, Bones, and Eric Gordon, what Russ did coming in the last 20 games of the season, he saved us.

“PG goes down and he went to another level. I love him, we got a great relationship. I can be real with him, he can be real with him. All he wants is the truth.”

After an amazing regular season run, Westbrook took his game to the next level in the postseason. He averaged 23.6 PPG, 7.6 RPG, and 7.4 APG over five games against the Suns.
