Shannon Sharpe Claims Kevin Durant Is Not Ahead Of Stephen Curry On The All-Time List: “KD Was A Trust Fund Baby With The Warriors”

3 Min Read

Kevin Durant’s departure after the Golden State Warriors’ defeat in the 2019 NBA Finals seemed like the end of the Warriors dynasty. The Dubs struggled to play well for the next two seasons, but most believed it wasn’t due to the absence of KD.

Instead, a major reason was the absence of Klay Thompson due to injuries and Draymond Green not playing like himself. Anyway, coming into the 2021-22 NBA season, the Warriors were finally at their full strength.

On the other hand, KD’s Nets created a superteam with Kyrie Irving and James Harden. While the Nets failed to live up to expectations, the Dubs didn’t.

Led by Stephen Curry, the Warriors went all the way to the 2022 NBA Finals and didn’t succumb to the pressure. They dominated the Boston Celtics throughout the series and clinched their fourth title in the last eight seasons.

The Warriors once again proved that they didn’t need Kevin Durant, but the former MVP needed them to win rings in his career. NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe took it a step further and called Durant a trust fund baby with the Warriors while putting Stephen Curry over KD in the list of the greatest players ever.

He has two more titles than Kevin Durant. He has two MVPs to Kevin Durant’s one. He’s been to six NBA Finals to Kevin Durant’s four. I don’t know how in anybody’s rankings they can have Kevin Durant ahead of Steph Curry. Kevin Durant was a trust fund baby with the Warriors. Everything was already given to him. … Only one team got swept in the NBA Playoffs this year in 2022, only one.”

A simple look at the resumes of the two superstars proves that Steph has gone past Durant. But to make it even clearer, take a look at a detailed career comparison of KD and Curry.

It proves that Curry is simply better than Durant at this point in their respective careers. Moreover, the Warriors honestly have a shot at winning a couple more titles if they can keep this team intact. If that turns out to be the case, Curry will simply be too far ahead of Durant.
