Shaquille O’Neal shared an image of three starting fives of players selected with the first pick of the draft in the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s

O’Neal, who was selected with the first pick in 1992, is backing Team 1990s to win

O’Neal added that his team would dominate the other two

Shaquille O’Neal is one of the greatest players in NBA history, and he’d back himself to come out on top against just about anyone else.

He recently shared an image of starting fives from the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s on Instagram and claimed his 1990s team would easily beat the other two.

“My team beating both teams in a seven-game series. Easily I might add”

Fans reacted to it with most of them agreeing with Shaq.

“Team 2000s would put up a good fight, and eventually lose probably, but 2010s is getting spanked.”

“Team 90s would win but it’s close”

“2000s hand down no debate”

“Why is 2010s an option “

“90’s team washes everything.”

Fans were a bit confused by the players here, but these teams actually consist of just the top pick from the draft in those decades. It is why you don’t see Michael Jordan in Team 1990s or Kobe Bryant in Team 2000s.

As for who’d win, it’d have to be between the 90s and 00s. Team 1990s has the most talent, and while they are quite imbalanced with all those big men, they’d still come out on top, even with LeBron James being on the other side.

Team 2020s Might One Day Have The Edge Over Team 1990s

While Team 1990s would come out on top against these two, they might face some stern competition come the end of this decade. When you consider the players who have been selected with the first pick in the 2020s in four years, it is already quite an impressive team.

Anthony Edwards was drafted with the first pick in 2020, then Cade Cunningham in 2021, followed by Paolo Banchero in 2022, and lastly, Victor Wembanyama in 2023.

Edwards is already an All-Star, while Banchero is coming off a rookie season where he averaged 20.0 PPG. Wembanyama, meanwhile, has been hailed as one of the greatest prospects ever. Even Cunningham has had a promising start to his career, and with six more potential stars to add to this mix, they might be the ones who could beat Team 1990s.
