Isiah Thomas is a Detroit Pistons legend. The point guard led the Detroit Pistons to two championships in 1989 and 1990 and is well-known for being an offensive force while also being solid on the defensive end. Isiah Thomas’ career averages are 19.2 PPG, 3.6 RPG, and 9.3 APG.

During his career, Isiah Thomas notably had a rivalry with Michael Jordan. While most people would say that Michael Jordan is the GOAT, Isiah Thomas is clearly not of that opinion. He has previously stated that LeBron James would be the GOAT if he were to pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in total scoring.

When debating about whether Michael Jordan or LeBron James is the GOAT recently, Isiah Thomas has even pointed out that Michael Jordan didn’t beat Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the 80s. It is true that Michael Jordan’s dominance came mostly during the 90s.

While Isiah Thomas and Michael Jordan may have their rivalry, there’s no doubt that Michael Jordan respects Isiah Thomas’ basketball ability. Recently, Stephen A. Smith revealed that Michael Jordan personally told him that he views Isiah Thomas as the second-greatest point guard of all time. (2:59).

It’s a travesty that you’re ranked 27. Michael Jordan personally told me you’re the second greatest point guard in the history of basketball behind Earvin Magic Johnson. So everybody knows what level of respect and reverence that you deserve.

There is no doubt that Isiah Thomas is underrated when it comes to people’s all-time lists. He is often glossed over when it comes to the legends of the 80s, and hopefully, he gets his recognition in the future.

While a lot of people won’t agree with Isiah Thomas saying that LeBron James is the GOAT, there are definitely a good amount of people who agree with him. The GOAT debate has always been a hot topic among fans, and it doesn’t look like it will be ending anytime soon.
