Stephen Curry shared his honest take on why the Golden State Warriors could never recover from the infamous offseason punching episode between Draymond Green and Jordan Poole.

Speaking on the Real Ones podcast with Logan Murdock and Raja Bell, the superstar explained why the murky incident, despite their efforts to be tackled and sorted, couldn’t be fixed (via ClutchPoints).

“Honestly, I don’t know. I can’t even tell you how many conversations we had, in training camp when the incident happened to the beginning of the season when you’re trying to make sure everybody’s on the same page in terms of expectations on a daily basis of how you deal with personal relationships, how you try to be professional when it comes to the job that we’re all here to do, dealing with some of the uncomfortable nature of the remnants of that situation.”

He further added:

“Cause we always talked about it between JP and Draymond, being able to try to rectify the situation, have the necessary conversations,” Curry continued. “From a coach, front office standpoint, I’m sure you could argue about whether should there have been a suspension or not. We had so many conversations and so many kinda back-and-forths at that moment about what the right course of action was, and there were a lot of variables that you have to take into play.”

As clinical as they were the season before, 2022-23 was just not the same Warriors team that won the championship the year before. Poole appeared rattled, while Green was inconsistent.

This, coupled with injuries to Curry and Andrew Wiggins, had them go through tough phases in the regular season. They were eventually outclassed 4-2 by the Los Angeles Lakers in the playoffs.

It’s unfortunate that the team that was destined for greater success with the perfect blend of youth and experience had to be dissected and swapped out with new faces, but that also means giving them a chance to get back to winning ways.

Stephen Curry Believes The Addition Of Chris Paul Makes The Warriors A Complete Roster

In a recent interview, Stephen Curry said the team roster has shaped up for the better with the addition of Chris Paul.

Speaking on the sidelines of the American Century Golf event, Curry told NBC Sports that the team roster makes sense with Paul.

“For us, it’s about trying to make the pieces fit a little bit better. Try to give us more versatility on both sides of the ball. And we understand our core is back. Adding CP and some other vets will really help us fill out that rotation and increase our depth. Our team makes a lot more sense this year.”

With the Warriors team looking more seasoned this time, one will expect them to go the distance. Maybe now, Paul gets his shot at a maiden championship, while Curry can look for his fifth.
