Stephen Curry has finally reached the stage in his career where every time you watch him play, you know you are watching a legend of the game play outside of LeBron James, Curry defines this generation of basketball more than anyone and is arguably the second-best player of the generation behind LeBron. Nobody thought this would happen when he came into the league, but Curry has achieved magical things in the last decade.

Steve Kerr compared Curry to Michael Jordan after Curry’s 40-point performance against the Washington Wizards because of how both players elicit massive cheers from opposing crowds. Curry has responded to the lofty comparison.

“He played with him and understood what the road shows looked like where opposing arenas and fans come out. I understand how Dub Nation has grown over the years, and I think that’s special. Every time you take the floor and you feel that energy, I  don’t ever take it for granted because it wasn’t always like that. That’s what we play the game for, in terms of fans coming out for the journey and spending their hard-earned money on tickets and creating an atmosphere like they did tonight. from the time we ran down the floor for warmups to the end of the game, it was amazing. Fortunately, we feel that most nights on the road and at home obviously, that means a lot. I’ll leave it to him to make that comparison but it is special what our accomplishments have done to bring that atmosphere out night after night.”

Kerr is a former teammate of Jordan’s and got to see how fans treated him firsthand. Watching Curry get similar treatment has possibly solidified Curry’s status as an all-time legend in the sport for Kerr, which has to be a nice feeling for the coach that led him to 4 championships.

Is Stephen Curry The Best Player Of This Era?

Ever since Stephen Curry won his 4th championship, many fans have wondered if he should be the one compared to Michael Jordan instead of LeBron James. While most fans recognize it’s obviously LeBron in that conversation, Curry isn’t as far apart as many would think.

LeBron has surpassed MJ in most stats due to his longevity except for championships. Curry and LeBron are tied for titles and Steph definitely has a better chance of adding to his tally before retirement than LBJ. Could Curry surpass LeBron if he won another title while LeBron retired with 4?

For some fans, it probably will be. However, we cannot forget the dominance that we’ve seen from LeBron for the last 20 years, so maybe the championships-only narrative is a little soft. Curry might go down as more influential and loved than LBJ, which would bring him close to MJ in that respect, but LBJ still is the better player on the court for this era.
