Stephen Curry revealed the one game that made him believe that he was destined for greatness.

Speaking to Today, the Golden State Warriors superstar relived the time he notched up 54 points against the New York Knicks at the Madison Square Garden in 2013. 

“My 4th year, we had a game in New York at the Garden,” Curry said (via ClutchPoints). “I scored 54 points but we lost that night. That game specifically just kind of changed the narrative — ‘Okay, we got to take this kid seriously because he’s got game and he’s fearless.’”

Curry averaged 54 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists, but the Warriors went down 109-105 against a stacked Knicks side led by Carmelo Anthony, who had 35 points and 8 assists. In what comes as a defining moment, it was Curry who turned the ball over, led to New York winning the contest.

Since then, Curry has gone on to become a bonafide superstar in the NBA. and he certainly changed the narrative as Golden State went on to win four titles with him at the helm.

Stephen Curry, with 4 NBA championships, will be looking to add another ring heading into the new season. Curry recently claimed that at 35 years of age, he is in the prime of his career. If he can perform as well as he has in previous years, the Warriors will have another chance at winning the NBA championship.

Curry will have a new superstar teammate in Chris Paul this time around. The 38-year-old point guard was traded to the Warriors recently and will form the backcourt with the sharpshooter.

For his career, Stephen Curry has averaged 24.6 points, 6.5 assists, and 4.7 rebounds. And is the NBA’s all-time leading three-point shooter, a record he broke two seasons ago against, incidentally the same team he scored 54 points against — the Knicks.
