Tim Duncan Has More Wins Than The Minnesota Timberwolves Franchise Despite Retiring In 2016

Tim Duncan’s career was one of the best we’ve ever seen in the NBA. Duncan is one of the most revered stars in NBA history, because of the amount of success he had during his time with the San Antonio Spurs as one of the most decorated players in NBA history.

Duncan was a 5-time NBA champion, 3-time Finals MVP, and a 2-time regular season MVP during his NBA career. Duncan is considered the greatest power forward of all time, and he achieved this despite never leading the NBA in points, assists, rebounds, blocks, and steals.

Duncan’s success came because of his ability to win games. Over his entire career, he has 1158 wins, combining his regular season and playoff record. That is more than the entirety of the Minnesota Timberwolves’ regular season and playoff total, as the franchise only has 1032 wins across the regular season and the playoffs.

Tim Duncan vs Minnesota Timberwolves: Overall Wins

Minnesota Timberwolves: 1032 Wins (1014 Regular Season Wins + 18 Playoff Wins)

This is truly an incredible statistic, and it’s hard to decide which should be the focus; Duncan’s dominance, or the Timberwolves’ lack of success. The Timberwolves were established as a franchise in 1989, 8 years before Tim Duncan even entered the league.

Yet, Duncan as an individual has been able to surpass the franchise in achievements and wins, despite being in the NBA for much less time.

Many believe that Tim Duncan has been the most underappreciated superstar in the history of the NBA. His career speaks volumes for how dominant he was, as he is one of the few players in the history of the NBA to win NBA championships in three different decades.
