Kyle Lowry: “I Will Retire As A Toronto Raptor.”

2 Min Read

34-year-old Kyle Lowry is nearing the end of his long and storied career. As trade rumors continue to swirl, and questions about his future linger, nobody knows what these next few weeks will look like for the 6x All-Star, or if he will be with the Raptors when it’s all said and done.

No matter what happens, though, Lowry has made it clear that his loyalty remains with Toronto, and he has every intention of retiring there to close off his basketball career.

“I will retire as a Toronto Raptor,” Lowry said. Whatever happens happens,” Lowry said. “At the end of day, myself, my agent, the organization, everyone has to do what’s right for them.

I don’t know what the crystal ball says, I don’t know what’s going to happen, I don’t know what they’re thinking, I’m thinking, we just kind of get to that point and figure it out from there.”

Lowry has been the face of Raptors basketball pretty much since his arrival in 2012. While his early years with the franchise came with a lot of disappointment, he always pulled through for his team when they needed him most, and never wavered in his commitment to them.

When Lowry and the Raptors finally did win a Chip in 2019, it only solidified his legacy as of the franchise’s all-time great players.

It might be soon that he wears a different jersey for a while but, rest assured, he’ll be a Raptor on the day he retires for good.
