Kelly Oubre Jr. was recently in a car accident in Philadelphia and has been ruled out for an undisclosed period as he recovers from a broken rib and various bruises sustained in the process. A video of him returning home after the accident has been leaked by TMZ.

In the video, Oubre is seen clutching his body and opening the door to his house. As he enters, he proclaims he’s been hit by a car. A woman’s voice can be heard asking him if he was serious and then expressing concern for him after he confirmed the situation.

Given the situation, the fact that Oubre could end up going home on his own after the accident is fantastic. We didn’t have much information on the severity of the accident, so it’s a positive sign that he could leave the scene on his strength, presumably going to the hospital after returning home.

Oubre must take all the time he needs to recover, as this incident will take a mental toll on him as well. If I were him, I’d also be concerned about how TMZ got footage from my doorbell camera. This is a major invasion of privacy unless Oubre’s team shared the video with TMZ to show Oubre’s state after the accident, though I don’t understand why they would do that.

Philadelphia Police Unsure About Where The Accident Took Place

A report came out yesterday which said that Philadelphia Police have been unable to find any footage of the accident despite searching around the area where Oubre claimed he was hit. Sgt. Eric Gripp, a department spokesperson, released a statement about the Oubre case earlier today

“The Police Department currently does not have any video or photographic evidence that depicts this collision. We continue to work in hopes of gathering evidence and we encourage anyone who has information to reach out to our crash investigation unit.”

This included going through footage held by stores in that area. However, that isn’t being said to cast doubt over the nature of the accident, as it’s likely Oubre doesn’t know exactly where the incident took place given he moved to the city a few months ago. He’s told the police that he was certain he was headed home, a destination we know he reached, given the footage TMZ leaked.

Sgt. Gripp has made it clear that Oubre is not being accused of anything. The Police do have a report of a car accident that would fit Oubre’s case from the day of his accident, which included a 27-year-old suffering injuries to the chest because of contact with a car. However, the location being different means we may have to wait a while longer for more details in this case.
