  • McGrady, a Hall of Famer, says basketball is his third sport
  • He says even at 43 years of age, he can throw a football 60 yards away
  • He also added that he could throw a baseball at 80 MPH

Tracy McGrady, a former NBA superstar known for his scoring prowess on the basketball court, made a surprising revelation about his athletic abilities beyond the hardwood. In an interview, McGrady shared that he possessed a remarkable talent for throwing a football – an ability he claims he still maintains even in his 40s.

During his appearance on The Pivot Podcast, McGrady disclosed that while basketball ultimately became his primary sport, baseball, and football were his initial passions:

“My best sport is baseball, basketball is my third sport… Baseball and football. Right now, I can go on the football field on one knee and throw 60 yards, easily. I go right now and throw 80 plus on the mound, baseball. At 43.”

“All three of them is natural, it’s a natural God-given ability… I didn’t play baseball from my junior year to 2013. That time space, I didn’t play baseball. When I went out there, I was throwing 85, 88.”

“My uncle CJ used to set up two pillows for me on our couch and that was my strike zone, used to throw the ball right through there and that’s how I got started.”

“I started playing baseball at five years old. I didn’t play basketball until I was like nine, ten years old. I hated basketball. I played football, I started at eight. Little League football, down in Florida, that’s what we do, that’s our thing.”

“For baseball though, I played every single year. I remember I was eight years old when I first started pitching.”

McGrady’s claim of being able to throw a football 60 yards on one knee, even at the age of 43, is nothing short of remarkable. This revelation sheds light on his natural athletic prowess, which extends beyond the realm of basketball, in which he claims that he was bullied into playing.

While McGrady’s basketball accomplishments remain legendary, such as his back-to-back scoring championships and multiple All-NBA and All-Star selections, this revelation provides a unique glimpse into the athlete’s multifaceted talents.
