Some major shockwaves were sent across not just the soccer world, but the entire sports world in general on Monday. It was reported that the Saudi Arabian soccer club Al Hilal was offering French superstar Kylian Mbappe a one-year deal worth $776 million.
Draymond Green, who just signed a four-year, $100 million deal with the Golden State Warriors was shocked by that salary and joked that he might be headed to Saudi.
“They got basketball leagues too right? I don’t the ink on my contract has dried up yet “

It was all just in some good fun, but the NBA could potentially have a Saudi problem in the future.
They haven’t shown all that much of an interest in the NBA or basketball just yet, as their focus seems to be on soccer and golf. If they do seriously look into basketball though, then there’s not really anyone who’s going to be able to match their financial might.
A lot of fairly big names in soccer have gone over there and who knows, maybe some NBA players might too in the future if the money is great. It’s doubtful they’d shell out the big bucks for Green though after he averaged 8.5 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 6.8 APG, 1.0 SPG, and 0.8 BPG last season. He is obviously vital for the Warriors but isn’t the big name they’d desperately want over there.
Giannis Antetokounmpo And LeBron James Reacted To The Mbappe Contract Offer
While Green may not generate a ton of interest from the Saudis, Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James certainly would.
When Giannis heard about the offer, he hilariously stated that Al Hilal could sign him, as he looks like Mbappe. He also showed off his soccer skills previously and asked whether teams in Saudi Arabia still need strikers.
Even LeBron quipped that he’d rush to Saudi Arabia if they called Rich Paul and Maverick Carter about giving him a one-year deal. It’s all fun and games, but it’d be interesting to see the reaction if the day does come when top-level talent heads over there because the money is just that good.
