NBA Analyst Ric Bucher had some lavish praise for Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler.

Sharing his thoughts on Fox Sports’ Speak, Bucher explained why he believed Butler was the greatest achiever in NBA history.

“Jimmy Butler is the greatest overachiever in NBA history. At 6’7″ and 230 lbs, he is practically the average size of an NBA player. I think the average size is 6’6″ and 220 lbs. He’s literally right there. In his first year in the league, he averaged 2.6 points and 1.3 rebounds. I defy you to find another player who has been the leader of the team that went to the finals, once much less twice, whose first year he was averaging 2.6 points and 1.3 rebounds.”

He further added:

“I know you’re looking at how farther he fell short. I am looking at how far he has come. And that to me is the fact. What he was coming into the league, and what he has become.”

Bucher couldn’t have hit the nail on the head any better with his thoughts on Butler. The forward is now a bonafide leader of the Miami franchise and has risen to be their cornerstone. While the Heat hasn’t won under his tenure yet, they have been consistent playoff contenders making the NBA Finals twice in the last four years.

From a numbers perspective, Butler was key for the side averaging 22.9 PPG, 5.9 RPG, and 5.3 APG, but it wasn’t enough to get the team across the finish line against the Denver Nuggets. That, though, doesn’t change the fact that Butler is one of the players with the dog in him.

Jimmy Butler Says The Heat Are Winning A Championship Soon

Jimmy Butler oozed confidence about the Heat’s chances of winning a title in the 2023-24 season.

During his China tour, the forward opined that Miami is on its way to winning a title shortly.

“The most important factor in us reaching the Finals was just teamwork. A championship is coming to the future in Miami.” Previously, he echoed a similar sentiment after the NBA Finals.

“It’s been great,” Butler said during the postgame conference. “I’ve had some hell of teammates come through here and compete with me and give us the opportunity to win a championship. I still believe with everything in me that we will do as a team here, as an organization, as a city in Miami.”

Only time will tell if the next season belongs to the Heat and Butler.
