The Los Angeles Clippers could be contenders next season, with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George on the roster. The duo’s talent level means they are a threat to win the championship if they’re healthy, and it seems as though some reinforcements are on the way.
On a recent episode of “The League Uncut” podcast, NBA insiders Marc Stein and Chris Haynes revealed that league personnel believes both James Harden and P. J. Tucker will end up on the Los Angeles Clippers.
Marc Stein: “Pretty much anyone you speak to around the league says Harden is gonna end up a Clipper…”(29:58)
Chris Haynes: “I think that somehow, someway, P. J. Tucker will make his way over there as well…I keep hearing people saying somehow they feel like P. J. is.”(37:40)
There is no doubt that both players could end up being great additions to the Los Angeles Clippers. P. J. Tucker is clearly one of the best defenders in the league still and a reliable corner 3PT shooter. James Harden would obviously be the bigger name, and he would likely start at the point guard position, pushing Russell Westbrook to the bench.
This past season, James Harden averaged 21.0 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 10.7 APG for the Philadelphia 76ers. He would be perfect as a third option behind Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
The Los Angeles Clippers Will Not Trade Paul George In A James Harden Deal
Though the Philadelphia 76ers likely want a star in return for James Harden from the Los Angeles Clippers, it is highly unlikely that they will get Kawhi Leonard or Paul George. In fact, a previous report revealed that the Clippers won’t move Paul George in a James Harden trade.
“The Clippers are not offering Paul George in any trade package for James Harden, as per Brian Windhorst.”
This stance makes sense from the Los Angeles Clippers. The goal should be to put James Harden next to their stars, rather than keeping the talent level on the team relatively the same.
It remains to be seen if James Harden will end up on the Los Angeles Clippers. He could definitely be a difference-maker for them and could take them to the next level as a team.
