The Los Angeles Clippers have emerged as strong suitors for James Harden in light of him demanding a move away from the Philadelphia 76ers. As he has opted in to the final year of his contract, Harden will need to be traded away.

The Clippers have some assets, but naturally, the team has been built around Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. And while some Sixers fans were hoping that they might get George in a trade involving Harden, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

“The Clippers are not offering Paul George in any trade package for James Harden, as per Brian Windhorst.”

Paul George is one of the league’s best two-way players when healthy and is a key part of this core the Clippers have built. He’s had some down moments during his time with the team but overall has averaged 23.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists during his time with the team. Those are excellent numbers, and it’s not surprising that they don’t want to give him up.

Daryl Morey is usually a tough customer to negotiate with, but the Sixers have very little leverage at this point. The chances that Harden ends up in Los Angeles to form a Big 3 with Leonard and George are far higher, a situation that might see George going the other way in a deal.

Paul George Himself Is Looking Forward To Teaming Up With James Harden

James Harden is an incredible distributor of the ball, he would fit in amazingly with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. And the duo reportedly wants the team to find a way to acquire the Beard and are excited about teaming up with him

“Per Sam Amick of The Athletic, Harden is likely to land with the Clippers and the only question is if Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey will be okay with the surprise idea.

“Both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are said to be on board with the idea of Harden potentially joining their core, according to sources.”

That Big 3 might just be the catalyst to take the Clippers to the NBA Finals and maybe even win them a championship. Harden’s touch-heavy style wouldn’t hamper Kawhi Leonard and Paul George as long as the ball came to them routinely. And their defensive prowess would also hide him on that end. If they can get James Harden without giving up Paul George, this would be a huge move for the Clippers.
