The 2023 NBA Draft is just hours away. Victor Wembanyama is expected to be the consensus number-one overall pick in the draft. It means he will be going to the San Antonio Spurs, who own the No. 1 pick.
Prior to the draft, FS1 analyst Chris Broussard shared his thoughts on Wembanyama’s floor and ceiling in the NBA. The veteran analyst believes that the French Phenom’s floor is Greg Oden, while his ceiling is becoming the greatest basketball player of all time.
“The floor, is like Greg Oden. He’s injured and is not able to play,” Broussard said on First Things First. “If he’s healthy, it’s possible that he could be a Shawn Bradley, just not that good. But I don’t see that.”
Broussard didn’t give much detail about his floor. But when it came to the 19-year-old’s ceiling, Broussard claimed that he could become the GOAT.
“The ceiling, there is none,” Broussard said. “His ceiling is GOAT. That is his ceiling. Is it possible? Yes. If what we heard about him and you are saying it is not possible, he is 7’5″. He can handle the basketball, and he shoots it okay. But he has a form and looks like he is going to shoot it better. He can defend, and he is 19 years old with the MVP of the French league. I know that might not be the top-level European league but he is still playing against grown men. He dominated offensively as he led the league in scoring, and defensively.”
He added: “He’s going to a great organization where he’s got a great coach, they know how to handle not only stars but international stars. … I’m not saying that I think he’s going to be the GOAT. I’m just saying that’s the ceiling. He’s better than Luka, Giannis, and Jokic were at this stage, and look at how great they became.”
"Victor Wembanyama's ceiling is GOAT." 🐐👀

Victor Wembanyama is a special prospect. He has been touted as the best prospect since LeBron James, but the 19-year-old feels no pressure about it.
He averaged 21.6 PPG, 10.4 RPG, 2.4 APG, 0.7 SPG, and 3.0 BPG for the Metropolitans 92 last season. It will be exciting to see if he can carry over that form to the best basketball league in the world.
Victor Wembanyama Is Ready To Face NBA Superstars
Becoming the GOAT is secondary for Wembanyama. First, he needs to get used to facing off against the current NBA superstars.
Wembanyama shared his thoughts on that in a recent interview. The French superstar believed being too humble and scared will lead to nothing.
“The most important is to not step on the court being too humble,” Wembanyama said. “You gotta be humble enough, to be able to respect the game, but if you step on a court too humble and scared, you can’t do anything.”
Heading into the NBA, that’s a great mentality from the young star. It’s no surprise that many have made a case for him to one day become the GOAT. For now, all eyes will be glued to the TV when Wembanyama gets drafted on Thursday night.
