Wizards swingman Kyle Kuzma is one of the summer’s hottest free agents, and he is clearly no stranger to that. All season long, he’s talked a big game in preparation for his free agency, and now is the time for him to cash in.

After a pretty solid season overall for Kuz, experts are expecting him to get a number of lucrative offers from teams in both conferences. In the latest report by Action Network’s Matt Moore, Kuz is seeking at least $30 million a year from his next team.

“With the Wizards pivoting toward a rebuild after trading Beal, there’s a strong possibility (though not definite) that Kyle Kuzma finds a new home in free agency. Belief among league sources is that Kuzma is looking for $30 million per season in talks.”

Kuzma is coming off the best season of his career with averages of 21.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game on 44% shooting. While he isn’t quite at an All-Star level, Kuz’s scoring and shooting make him an ideal option for any contending playoff team.

The question is, where will he ultimately land, and which team will be desperate enough to give him the offer he’s looking for?

Kuzma Says His NBA Future Is About More Than ‘Just The Money’

It remains to be seen what happens with Kuzma this summer, but it’s looking increasingly unlikely that he stays in D.C. With Bradley Beal gone, it’s clear the Wizards are in full rebuild mode, and it’s doubtful they’d be keen on dishing out a near-max deal to Kyle Kuzma.

Of course, the young forward himself admitted that money is not the only factor in his decision this summer.

“I’m just trying to be myself. I’m trying to get better every year. It’s not about money, I’m going to get paid regardless anywhere [I go] and here, too. It’s about can I come into work every day and be the best version of myself, can I help lead guys, can I make other players better, can I light up rooms. All those things matter when you’re trying to be successful,” Kuzma said.

It may not seem like it now, but Kyle Kuzma will be one of the summer’s biggest dominoes to fall. Wherever he goes could tilt the balance of power in the NBA… or it could just be more of the same.
