In the NBA, there are certain players who have built up a reputation for being detrimental to winning. In the eyes of most fans and experts, these types of players can be classified as those who have little impact on winning despite being flashy or putting up big numbers. In places like Charlotte, the Hornets’ perpetual state of mediocrity puts a lot of pressure on the star to step up and carry his squad.
Unfortunately, LaMelo has yet to take the Hornets anywhere of note, and it’s why he has developed the reputation of a “non-winning” athlete. But on Twitter, Wizards swingman Kyle Kuzma fought back against that narrative and explained why players don’t deserve that sort of classification.
“It’s funny people call players non-winning players but fail to realize organizations are the reason for it lol team sport…”

Indeed, basketball is a team sport, and not even the greatest players ever could win a title alone. They needed help just like everyone else, so why should we hold it against the players when their team fails to get them the help they deserve?
In the case of Kuzma, he already has a championship thanks to his run with LeBron and the Lakers, but his future is uncertain as he heads into free agent this July.
Kuzma Is Fighting Against The Haters
Since leaving the Lakers, Kyle has really made it a point to take control of his career and how the NBA community views his game. While he frequently goes viral for his wardrobe choices or questionable quotes, Kuzma is working hard to prove all the doubters wrong.
“I just don’t like false narratives w me! People use the way I dress or my celebrity against me. Don’t let my confidence offend your insecurities. I’m a very driven person and strive to get better like I have been my entire career! If you knew my story you’d rock with me more!”
Winning a title is not easy in the NBA, and it takes more than the efforts of one or two players to secure the ultimate victory. Basketball is truly a collaborative sport, and no one player is completely responsible for the performance of their team during the course of an 82-game season.
