Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma has developed into a solid two-way player during his time with the team. However, he will be a free agent at the end of this season, which means that he could end up suiting up for a different team next year.

When speaking to Chase Hughes of NBC Sports, Kyle Kuzma revealed that his free agency decision is not about the money he gets. Kuzma noted that he will get paid on any team, and added the key is about being able to be “the best version of himself” wherever he goes.

“I’m just trying to be myself. I’m trying to get better every year. It’s not about money, I’m going to get paid regardless anywhere [I go] and here, too. It’s about can I come into work every day and be the best version of myself, can I help lead guys, can I make other players better, can I light up rooms. All those things matter when you’re trying to be successful,” he said.

Even though a lot of people expect Kyle Kuzma to leave the Washington Wizards in free agency, there is also some potential that he will remain with the franchise. Kuzma would be one of the core pieces in Washington, and he also noted that he appreciates the Wizards’ geographic location in the past.

Kyle Kuzma has had a stellar season with the Washington Wizards this year, averaging 21.2 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 3.7 APG. He is bound to get a long-term, big-money contract this offseason, and we’ll see what happens in the future.

The Washington Wizards Want To Keep Kyle Kuzma

Even though the team hasn’t been elite this season, the Washington Wizards want to maintain their core and then try to build on this year. A previous report revealed that the team wants to keep its core featuring Bradley Beal, Kristaps Porzingis, and Kyle Kuzma.

“Sheppard’s front office believes the team is more talented than it has been in years past — something its record does not reflect, in part because of a steady stream of injuries. Washington’s core trio of Beal, Porzingis, and Kuzma have only played 23 games together largely because of Beal’s three extended absences because of either injury or illness. But injuries don’t account for all of the team’s shortcomings — they are 11-12 when the trio play together.”

It remains to be seen if Kyle Kuzma will end up staying with the Washington Wizards after this season. The team definitely has some potential to be better next season if he remains, and the Wizards will hope that he values the bigger opportunity he has with the team when it comes to making his free-agency decision.
