Kyrie Irving and Russell Westbrook served as an inspiration to hoopers today.

There is no doubt that this generation of basketball is a golden era for guard play. Of course, there’s Stephen Curry, who changed the game of basketball. However, there are plenty of others who have left their imprint on the game itself.

Kevin Durant has recently chosen to shout out two legendary point guards for what they provided to the game. He claimed that Kyrie Irving and Russell Westbrook inspired a generation of basketball players, but noted that the duo won’t get credit for it.

It is easy to see why Kevin Durant thinks his former teammates inspired this current generation of basketball players. Kyrie Irving’s influence is shown in everyone’s different combinations of dribble moves, as well as hoopers favoring his shoes. Meanwhile, Russell Westbrook has re-vitalized the triple-double and has shown what it means to truly carry a team on his back.

Coincidentally, both players will be free agents during this off-season. Russell Westbrook is widely expected to return to the Los Angeles Clippers, while Kyrie Irving is also expected to remain with the Dallas Mavericks.

Kyrie Irving Previously Sent An Inspirational Message To Ja Morant

Inspiration doesn’t always have to come from on-the-court exploits, and sometimes, an off-court gesture can be inspirational. Kyrie Irving inspires some due to his insights into the world, and he previously dropped a good take on Ja Morant’s gun situation.

“Even today with Ja and it’s not even a situation, it’s somebody’s life that is very fragile and needs to be taken care of and nurtured… Whatever color you are, whatever creed, and whatever religion you are, a lot of us need nurturing. We need the nurturing, the nurturing of maternal and paternal instincts that we get from our mom and dad or our grandparent. We need to normalize family time, taking off the veil of technology. Stop letting technology control your f***ing mind. Stop letting this sh*t do that. Go out in the sun, ground yourself. Learn what peace and mind actually means and pray to God.”

There is no doubt that Ja Morant is someone that needs help with figuring things out off the court, and hopefully, he reaches out to Kyrie Irving for guidance. It is clear that he understands that nurturing helps a person grow.
