After 11 seasons in the NBA, 4x champion Draymond Green isn’t about shortchange what could be his final long-term NBA contract. As a free agent this summer, Green will have full control over his NBA destiny, and all signs point to him re-signing with the Warriors.

But as NBA insider Jason Dumas reported this week, he won’t be coming back on just any agreement. Apparently, he’s looking to secure a Steph-like deal that will keep him under contract for three years.

I’ve been told Draymond is seeking a contract that lines up with Steph’s in terms of length.

Look for a three year extension.

As many fans have pointed out, the length of that deal lines up perfectly with Stephen Curry’s contract and that is not by accident. Even after turning 35 years old in March, Steph is one of the top three players in the game and he can keep the Warriors in title contention as long as he’s healthy and at least somewhat himself.

After achieving so much success in his own career, it would make sense for Dray to stick it out as long as Steph is going. Because the moment Curry decides to leave the Warriors is the moment that the franchise starts a full rebuild.

Re-Signing Draymond Is Warriors’ Top Priority

Following a rather subpar campaign, there is no way the Warriors are satisfied with their roster as it is. Over the next few weeks and months, they will likely be aggressive in their pursuit of talent to build around Steph.

Keeping Draymond is essential to their plans, and new GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. admitted that bringing him back will be their biggest priority.

“We really want Draymond back,” Dunleavy said. “To win at the highest level, we feel we have to have him. Beyond that, a lot could be made of all the challenges, but we are ready.”

Needless to say, it’s going to be expensive to keep this team together. With so much money invested in just a few guys, the challenge of adding quality supporting players will be extreme.

Either way, we will find out how soon enough just much the Warriors really value Draymond and all that he brings to the table.
