Toronto Raptors forward OG Anunoby has been generating massive interest from the other teams, but it appears that the team has no interest in parting ways with their star.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, “One source from a team with interest in trading for Anunoby described Toronto as having a “strong reluctance” to part with him.”

It was previously reported that the Memphis Grizzlies and the Portland Trail Blazers were interested in trading for Anunoby. This comes on the back of the Raptors also looking to re-sign Fred VanVleet in the free agency.

Anunoby has been a vital cog in the Raptors’ defense over the last couple of seasons and it’s easy to see why the team will look to build their roster around the impressive player. That said if they indeed choose to head toward a rebuilding direction, trading the forward would give them sizeable assets.

The Grizzlies could use someone of Anunoby’s frame to bolster their defense. His ability to lock up opponents, and read the game well makes him a perfect fit. But for now, the Raptors don’t like they want to budge.

All Eyes Will Be On The Raptors In The Offseason

The Raptors will be one of the teams to watch out for in the offseason. They have been in the headlines due to their stars getting calls from multiple teams. For starters, the Blazers were one of the teams interested in Pascal Siakam, while the Lakers were looked at as one of the suitors for VanVleet.

Some executives have called Toronto a “frustrating team” to deal with. “It’s fair to say front offices are pretty worn out on the attempts by Toronto to get “blood from a stone,” as one executive put it at the deadline in any deal. Multiple sources have described the Raptors as frustrating to deal with. So why keep calling? ‘There are only 29 teams to work with,'” Matt More of Action Network wrote.

It’s understandable that the Raptors want to win again, but their current crop of assets can do with a big-name player. And only time will tell if they indeed want to run it back one more time.
