Superstar Damian Lillard is the face of the Portland Trail Blazers, and there’s no doubt that he’s an elite player that is superstar-caliber. Though he has been extremely loyal to the Portland Trail Blazers, there is a chance that he will get moved this off-season.
The Miami Heat are a team that has been linked with making a big move this offseason, with their main targets being Bradley Beal and Damian Lillard. With Bradley Beal off the table after his trade to the Suns, it seems as though the team is prioritizing the acquisition of Damian Lillard.
“Miami’s focus is Portland superstar Damian Lillard with the genuine belief this could be the offseason the veteran guard seeks a change of scenery, league sources tell NBA on TNT and Bleacher Report.”

Damian Lillard is definitely a better player than Bradley Beal, and it makes sense for the Miami Heat to try and get him. Kyle Lowry and Gabe Vincent are great players, but it is clear that the team had a tough time scoring. Adding Damian Lillard would fix the Miami Heat’s offensive woes, and he and Jimmy Butler are likely a championship-caliber duo.
This season, Damian Lillard averaged 32.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 7.3 APG for the Portland Trail Blazers. He could be an instant difference-maker for any team, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
The Trail Blazers Are Not Pursuing A Damian Lillard Trade
Even though the Western Conference is tougher than ever, it seems as though the Portland Trail Blazers are committed to building around Damian Lillard, according to Brian Windhorst.
“They can get a haul for Dame. Whatever it is. And they’d have two lottery picks to rebuild around. But that is not the direction they’re going at all. That is not the intel I’m receiving at all.”
The Trail Blazers’ loyalty to Damian Lillard is certainly commendable, and it’ll be interesting to see if they do manage to ever build a contender around him. Lillard is a high-level scorer, who shows up in the biggest moments. Hopefully, we see him on a competitive team in the future, and the Trail Blazers definitely have the assets to make that happen, with up-and-coming young guard Anfernee Simons and the No. 3 overall pick being solid trade pieces.
