Ja Morant has been at the center of a lot of controversy since his ill-advised gun-wielding on Instagram Life. Morant has been criticized for this decision, especially after it happened again. With his NBA future in doubt, Dwyane Wade was asked what advice he would give the young star.
On an episode of Club Shay Shay, Dwyane Wade was asked what advice he would give to Ja Morant if he were his son, and how he should handle the situation.
“What I try to do with my kids, I’m not going to act like life isn’t going to happen, some mistakes are not going to happen. We can try to minimize but they’re going to happen. Actually, you need some of them to happen… This is the part of his journey that we’re on. This is something we can use as a learning lesson. My question to anybody is – what do you want for your life?”
“I know what Ja probably wants, he wants to be one of the greatest. You want to be one of the greatest. Now let me open up the books and show you what the greats do, and how they go by their business, and how they separate this and that… The guys that have a statue, this is how they did it. They went through stuff. It’s just about showing him”.

Wade added: “Ja is 23 years old. He’s a young man that’s supposed to make mistakes. Now do we want him to make the mistakes that he made? Of course, we don’t… We don’t get rid of you if you make this mistake twice…”
“I don’t know Ja like that so I wouldn’t pick up the phone… He not listening to me necessarily like that. That’s not my ministry with him… Ja Morant is one of my favorite players to watch. If I spend my cash, Ja is one of my top three players that I’m going to go spend my money on. My conversation with him would be that – What do you want for your future?”
Ja Morant Needs To Re-Focus
Ja Morant is facing a lengthy suspension going forward into the next season. While Commissioner Adam Silver has not revealed the length of the suspension yet, many within the league expect him to be out for a significant part of the season.
Morant averaged 26.2 points, 8.1 assists, and 5.9 rebounds per game last season, so the Grizzlies will definitely miss his presence on the court next year.
Comedian Karlous Miller recently blasted Adam Silver for criticizing Ja Morant, noting that Memphis is a dangerous city and Ja was justified in carrying a gun. Regardless of the discourse on this issue, Ja is going to be out of action for a long time.
