Damian Lillard sparked the interest of multiple NBA franchises yesterday after openly saying that he has a list of teams he’d be willing to get traded to, with the Miami Heat at the top of that list due to Dame’s relationship with Bam Adebayo.
The Heat are three wins away from winning an NBA Championship, which would sour the taste of most people if Dame was to join them after they win a title. Thankfully, the seven-time All-Star clarified that he will not go to Miami if they become champions.
“I am participating in trying to build what we’re trying to build. If Miami wins a championship, that definitely ain’t happening.”
Twitter really had me hype on the Damian Lillard picking Miami news but he said

Damian Lillard averaged 32.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.3 assists this season as his Blazers ended the season with a pitiful record of 33-49. They ended up benching Dame for the end of the season to tank further into the lottery, a strategy which paid off with the Blazers jumping up to the No. 3 pick in the 2023 Draft. The team has announced they’re looking to make a win-now trade involving the pick to get Lillard some help in Portland.
What Would Be The Cost Of Trading For Damian Lillard?
It seems highly unlikely that Portland will give up their franchise star and possibly their best player since Clyde Drexler for cheap. Teams like the Miami Heat don’t have future disposable assets that they can throw at the Blazers to get Lillard, with Tyler Herro possibly being the biggest piece in such a trade. But if Lillard specifically requests a trade to Miami, the Blazers will likely go out of their way to ensure it takes place.
Other teams in the running for Lillard would be the likes of the Brooklyn Nets, who have stars Mikal Bridges and Nicolas Claxton that they can pair up with Dame. With all the future assets they got from the Suns, they can possibly meet the price and still allow Dame to go to a team of his own liking.
