The Portland Trail Blazers are all-in on building a competitive team for the 2023-24 NBA campaign. After several years of trying to win without any success, the team is ready to make some significant changes to bring in the right pieces to help Damian Lillard.

The talented point guard has stated over and over again that he’s loyal to his team, and they’re trying to cash in on that as long as they can keep Lillard on the roster. They are set to make some changes this offseason and put Dame in a good position to compete for a championship, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype

“Damian Lillard created a little bit of a stir when he showed up to watch the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center during the playoffs and caught his guy Mikal Bridges playing. With that said, Portland still plans to build around Lillard, I’m told.”

Seah Highking added that in the case they can grant Lillard’s wish, the Blazers will work with the player to send him to his preferred destination.

“If Dame was to reverse course and say it’s time to get me somewhere else, I think they’d work with him and get him somewhere he wants to go. But that’s not what I heard they’re thinking of doing or their mindset at all right now.”

At the moment, Lillard hasn’t given any signs of wanting to leave the Blazers, but if he does, the market will be big for the former Rookie of the Year. Lillard has been a sought-after player for a hot minute now, and after confirming he’s still atop of his game with an All-NBA selection, everybody knows he can still bring a lot to the table.

Damian Lillard Linked With Moves To Celtics, Sixers And Heat

The team’s general manager admitted that he expects a lot of calls for the upcoming No. 3 overall pick. They will try to use this pick to bring the talent that Lillard needs to compete for the title.

Dame stated that he wants to win with the Trail Blazers, but if he can’t, it’ll be time to make some changes. He still has hopes for his team, but if next season isn’t good, we’ll probably be talking about a trade request from Lillard.

Lillard has been linked with a move to the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and even the 2023 Eastern Conference champions Miami Heat
