NBA insider Brian Windhorst said the stepping down of Bob Myers potentially signals the end of the Golden State Warriors dynasty.
“Bob Myers is not re-signing. Draymond Green has a contract option out that he could take. … Then you have Steve Kerr entering the final year of his contract. … Klay Thompson entering that last year of his contract,” he said on ESPN’s Get Up.

Myers’ departure from the franchise as their GM and president of basketball operations was made official on Tuesday, shifting the focus immediately to the future that looks uncertain.
The summer looks challenging for the Warriors, with Kerr and Thompson entering in the final deals with the side. While the former has already been looked at as Gregg Popovich’s successor at San Antonio, Thompson and Green are already part of trade theories.
Green’s contract will be the first order of business for the Warriors, and chances are that they will persist with Jordan Poole and the rest of the unit for one more season. But safe to say some important calls will have to be made.
Steve Kerr Hasn’t Discussed His Extension With The Warriors
With all the focus on the end of the dynasty, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Kerr walk away if the 2023-24 campaign ends badly for the Warriors. During his exit interview, the head coach stated he has not discussed his extension.
“Our organization has a lot to sort through this summer,” Kerr said. “My contract situation is not – nor should it be at the top of the list. Right now Bob’s (Myers) contract situation is number one because that influences a lot of the player decisions that have to be made, contracts, draft, free agency.”
“So we will get to my stuff whenever that happens, and I’m in no rush for that. I love coaching, I love coaching these players, I love coaching the Warriors, and I love living in the Bay. But I’m also in the NBA,” he said.
While Kerr did put the ball in the front office’s court, he also added he loves being with the team. Only time will tell if his tenure with Golden State extends for a few more years.
