LeBron James had a phenomenal season for a 38-year-old, but it wasn’t enough for the Los Angeles Lakers to get past the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals.

Following the embarrassing exit, there have been a plethora of rumors about the Lakers revisiting their plans to sign Kyrie Irving in the offseason. According to The Athletic’s Jovan Buha, the King wants Irving to be the third superstar on the Lakers’ roster next season.

“There is a known preference to have Irving as the third star,” Buha wrote. “There are various machinations to make it work, including the Lakers creating upwards of $30-35 million in cap space by rescinding the free-agency rights of multiple players and declining multiple players’ team options. The Lakers could still retain Reaves if they signed Irving, though their depth would take a considerable hit. The Lakers could also acquire Irving in a sign-and-trade, but that would hard-cap them at $169.5 million and require the Mavericks to cooperate.”

LeBron James hinted at retirement after getting swept by the Nuggets. But was he really serious? After all, the consensus around the league is that it was a ploy by James to put the Lakers on notice to approach Kyrie Irving this summer.

Irving is all set to hit unrestricted free agency soon. While he could re-sign with the Mavericks following a poor 2022-23 NBA season, there is a belief around the league that Kai may join a different team.

Kyrie Irving Wants To Be Left Alone Ahead Of His Free Agency

Kyrie Irving may have a hard time keeping his off-court issues under control, but he is still one of the best players in the league at his position.

Keeping that in mind, the NBA community is eager to know which team will the 31-year-old join this summer. However, Irving recently slammed fans for talking about his free agency and urged them to leave him alone.

“Stop mentioning me on Twitter. All y’all fan bases, stop mentioning me, please! It is still the Conference Finals…Can you please leave me the f**k out of this… Can I just be with my family in peace? Y’all got people at my dinner table discussing what my free agency plans are. Y’all think it’s funny, but please stop that. I see all y’all mentions, I said it… I’m just excited as y’all are. But you gotta chill…I love y’all.”

Following Irving’s comments, it’s as clear as day that he is yet to decide where his next chapter in the NBA will take place.

Will he reunite with LeBron James and play for the Los Angeles Lakers? There’s no way for us to tell as of now.
