The Miami Heat have put the Milwaukee Bucks on the ropes after taking a 3-1 lead in the first-round series.

Considering the Heat were the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference, no one expected them to be on the verge of defeating the first-seeded Milwaukee Bucks. If Miami can pull this off, they will create history. Speaking of which, Sports Illustrated recently revealed only five times when the number eight seed has won a playoff series against the number one seed.

1. 1994 Western Conference First Round: Denver Nuggets vs. Seattle Supersonics (3-2)

2. 1999 Eastern Conference First Round: New York Knicks vs. Miami Heat (3-2)

3. 2007 Western Conference First Round: Golden State Warriors vs. Dallas Mavericks (4-2)

4. 2011 Western Conference First Round: Memphis Grizzlies vs. San Antonio Spurs (4-2)

5. 2012 Eastern Conference First Round: Philadelphia 76ers vs. Chicago Bulls (4-2)

The number one seeds are usually the favorites to win the NBA Championships. So it’s no surprise that there have only been five instances when the lowest seed in the conference has caused an upset.

Can The Miami Heat Clinch The Series vs. The Milwaukee Bucks?

The Heat vs. Bucks series has been full of interesting moments so far. Jimmy Butler’s 56-point performance in Game 4 was unarguably the best moment in the series so far.

After all, the Heat now have a 3-1 lead vs. the Bucks. In addition to Butler’s incredible performances, the team also has the basketball gods on its side. Giannis Antetokounmpo missed Games 2 and 3 due to an injury.

He was back on the roster for Game 4, but it was obvious that the two-time NBA MVP wasn’t at his best.

Keeping these things in mind, it won’t be a surprise if the Heat becomes the sixth team in NBA history to defeat a number one seed in the playoffs.

But that doesn’t mean that a comeback is not possible for the Bucks. There are several teams who have won a playoff series after being down 3-1. Can Giannis lead the Bucks to a famous comeback? We will find out soon.
