Kawhi Leonard threw in a line from Russell Westbrook’s book after the LA Clippers’ Game 1 win against the Phoenix Suns.

“Win, lose, or draw, it’s about giving your best out there. Just gotta keep having fun with it,” the forward stated with a solemn face.

Earlier, it was Westbrook who had uttered the same words when he was a Los Angeles Laker. The guard’s final days with the franchise weren’t without drama when his aforementioned line when LeBron James and Darvin Ham were talking to the team in the locker room caused quite the stir.

Westbrook had a torrid day as far as his shooting was concerned, but he made up for it with some scintillating defense. His astute game awareness and experience saw him dish out perfect assists, and some of them were to Kawhi, who poured in 38 points to help his side win 115-110 against Phoenix.

Kawhi Leonard Gets Real On Playing Against Kevin Durant In The First Round Of The Playoffs

One of the bigger storylines ahead of the Clippers vs. Suns matchup was Westbrook vs. Durant, but when it came to the battle of the forwards, it was Kawhi vs. Durant. And the Clippers’ star was candid when asked about playing against the veteran ahead of the playoff skirmish.

“He’s a great player. These are the fun parts of it, just going out there and competing against a guy like him that’s been doing it year after year. Everybody’s gonna have to take the challenge.”

The chatter will only get louder now that LA has gone up 1-0. Kawhi outplayed Durant and Devin Booker in the first game and has the ability to switch to another gear in the postseason.

But the Suns cannot be taken lightly. Safe to say, these two players facing off for the rest of the series will be one of the major factors behind whichever team comes out on top.
