The Los Angeles Clippers will face the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs this year, a matchup that will be challenging for a number of reasons. There is a huge talent disparity between the two teams, and many believe that the Clippers will end up losing badly in the series.

Even though the Los Angeles Clippers will go into the matchup as the underdog, it seems as though superstar Kawhi Leonard is excited to face Kevin Durant. He noted that competing against someone like Kevin Durant is one of the “fun parts” of basketball.

“He’s a great player. These are the fun parts of it, just going out there and competing against a guy like him that’s been doing it year after year. Everybody’s gonna have to take the challenge.”

It is definitely tough to see the Los Angeles Clippers winning against the Phoenix Suns in a seven-game series. However, there are some things that suggest an upset is possible, and even if one doesn’t happen, the Clippers can likely win a few games against them.

Kevin Durant will obviously be a problem, as he has averaged 29.1 PPG, 6.7 RPG, and 5.0 APG this season. It will take a team effort to stop him, though Kawhi Leonard is likely going to guard him at times in isolation as well.

Kevin Durant Spoke About Facing Kawhi Leonard As Well

Previously, we saw Kevin Durant also talk about potentially facing Kawhi Leonard. He noted that Leonard is “tough to play against” but “cool to watch.” It is clear that this matchup is going to be one for the ages, as two of the best forwards in the league will be facing one another.

“It’s funny, I played against Kawhi when he was young coming into the league and he didn’t have this role that he has now — a superstar,” Durant said. “So I have just seen his development over time, it’s been cool to watch. (He’s) tough to play against but it’s cool to watch. He’s somebody who brings it every time he steps on the floor, so he ups the level of everybody around him.”

We will see who ends up coming out on top between Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard. Though the Suns definitely have the better overall roster, the Clippers can definitely cause some problems for them if Kawhi Leonard elevates his game further in the playoffs.
