Russell Westbrook was on the Los Angeles Lakers to start this season, something a lot of Lakers fans might already have forgotten. Considering their excellent run after the trade deadline, it feels like his presence on the team and the controversy around it is a thing of the past.
As the Los Angeles Lakers gear up for the playoffs, some think they can win the championship. And if they do that, then Westbrook would be eligible for a ring despite being traded away. NBA fans on Twitter were asked if he deserves one and there were some interesting answers.
Saw this on ESPN: if the Lakers somehow win a title this year… should they give a ring to Russell Westbrook? 😂 pic.twitter.com/Q8P3cOJZZH

One fan pointed out that they will have to give him one if they do end up winning it all: “Should is not an option lmao they have to.”

Even if they so offer him a ring, one fan thinks Russell Westbrook would be unlikely to accept it: “I honestly feel Russ wouldn’t even accept that ring.”

But there are still fans who don’t Russell Westbrook to get anything from the Lakers, as shown by this comment: “I’m giving Matt Ryan a ring before I give Russ one.”

But there are still those that acknowledge that it wasn’t Westbrook’s fault how things turned out. One fan wrote, “Yes because we don’t win some games without him even tho he wasn’t a fit team-wise, he did play every game like it was his last… I respect Westbrook he just was a horrible fit.”

Can The Los Angeles Lakers Win The NBA Championship?
The Los Angeles Lakers are the 7th seed in the Western Conference, and as such, have a tough road ahead of them. They will face the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round, and some in the NBA think they won’t even get past that matchup.
If they do make it, the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings could both prove to be tough semifinal opponents. And that’s without counting one of the Phoenix Suns, Denver Nuggets, or Russell Westbrook’s Los Angeles Clippers that they would have to face should they make it to the Conference Finals.
Having LeBron James and Anthony Davis automatically increases a team’s chances in the playoffs, but it’s a tough road ahead for the Lakers. Their 16-8 record to end the season coupled with a play-in win will give them some heart, but it’s unlikely that Westbrook will be getting a ring from his former employers this season.
