“The Grizzlies Have Too Much Firepower For The Lakers,” Anonymous Head Coach Says Memphis Will Beat Los Angeles In 5 Games

The Los Angeles Lakers won a hard-fought game against the Minnesota Timberwolves to secure a playoff spot. Their reward is facing the No. 2 seed Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the playoffs. And there are a lot of people that think the Lakers can make some noise.

According to a report by The Athletic though, one anonymous NBA Head Coach doesn’t think it’s going to go that way for the Los Angeles Lakers. He expects the Memphis Grizzlies to win and do it quite easily as well.

“The Grizzlies have too much firepower for the Lakers. Ja Morant, I don’t know if there’s anyone on that Lakers team that can guard him. He’s unguardable. And this is their time. This is what they’ve been waiting for all year long, the Grizzlies… (The Lakers will win a game) only because of Anthony Davis.

“The Grizzlies are going to have a hard time, without Steven Adams, guarding Anthony Davis. We’ll see which Anthony Davis shows up, too.”

This isn’t a bad take, the Grizzlies’ roster is pretty well-rounded and solid. Ja Morant is almost unguardable on the nights he has it going as well. Having said that, it’s too early to predict the outcome of this series, the Lakers have serious playoff and championship pedigree in their roster.

Draymond Green Believes The Lakers Will Beat The Grizzlies

It wouldn’t be the NBA if everyone agreed on anything, and with one head coach thinking that the Grizzlies will win, Draymond Green thinks otherwise. He has openly said that he thinks the Lakers will win and then face off against the Golden State Warriors, who he is backing to beat the Sacramento Kings.

“This is a tough matchup for Memphis. I expect LeBron to have the tempo of the game where he wants and not just try to get up and down with that young Memphis team… Ja Morant loves to get to the paint and you got a shot-blocker like AD at the rim. You got Jarred Vanderbilt muckin stuff up, LeBron muckin stuff up… I think the Lakers will take this series. I think it’ll be an upset. It will not be easy… But I think the Lakers may take this series.”

Analysts like Nick Wright have gone as far as predicting that the Lakers will win the NBA Finals this season. But they have a very small chance of making that happen. In any case, it promises to be a fun series, and fans will be hoping it’s a hard-fought one either way.
