Jordan Poole hasn’t entirely forgotten his offseason punch-up with teammate Draymond Green.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Golden State Warriors‘ much-anticipated clash against the Sacramento Kings, Poole was asked about the team veterans and their sense of chaos, to which the young guard had a blunt reply: “On the court?”

Green taking a swing at Poole was one of the many controversial moments of the 2022-23 season, and the drama led to Green being sent home. He later addressed the media, and while many felt the incident eventually blew over, Poole’s comments suggest that he’s far from forgetting the furor.

That said, both Green and Poole have put on a united front and made sure they stuck by each other as a team throughout the regular season. The guard had a better season than last year averaging 20.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists and played all 82 games this time.

Jordan Poole Has Reportedly Not Lived Up To Expectations, Says Western Conference Executive

Poole may have the numbers to show, and his 82-game attendance is proof of his fitness and consistency, but according to a Western Conference executive, he hadn’t lived up to what was expected of him.

“He has not been the guy they needed after he got the contract this summer,” he said via Heavy. “He will give you 30 one night then go 5-for-20 the next. It is tough. The thing with Draymond in the offseason, is obviously that hurt the chemistry of the team.

The executive further added that the punching incident had left a mark on Poole. “I don’t know, it is like he got punched and now wants to make sure that is not what people think of when they think of him. I am not a psychologist but that is how it looks on film.”

The Warriors now have a chance to defend their title, despite their inconsistent run in the regular season. And Poole will have his task cut out as the team’s reliable scoring option. Only time will tell if he can indeed overcome the incident and perform at his very best, and while at it, mend the fence with Green.
