The Los Angeles Lakers are closing the 2022-23 NBA regular season on a high note. They have gotten big wins that took them from that terrible 13th seed to the 7th in the standings, and now are ready to challenge every team in the West.

Following a big 121-107 win against the Phoenix Suns on Friday night, LeBron James perfectly summed up how the Lakers improved their level.

“I was just telling AD [Anthony Davis], I was like, ‘Man, can you believe that we’re going to finish this season above .500? After everything that’s gone on this season?'” James said. “We’ve turned this thing around. And it’s the regular season, obviously, there’s a lot more basketball to be played. But to know that we’re going to finish a few games above .500? It’s pretty cool.”

This is indeed great news for the Purple and Gold, who started this season with a 2-10 record. They looked lost at times this season, but after making a series of moves around the trade deadline, things clicked for them and the Lakers started playing quality basketball.

Anthony Davis showed up when his team needed him the most, earning huge praise in the process, and LeBron James always acted like their leader, even when he was inactive. The pieces they brought to improve their level have worked perfectly, and the results are the biggest proof of that.

Los Angeles Lakers Have The Best Record In The West Since The All-Star Break

After getting the 42nd win of the season, the Lakers clinched a winning season, but it remains to be seen if they can avoid the play-in tournament. As things stand now, they will face the New Orleans Pelicans for that 7th seed. Depending on that result, they could play against the Memphis Grizzlies or Denver Nuggets.

Things have gotten a lot better for the Lakers, who boast a 15-7 record since the All-Star break, the best in the Western Conference. The picture looks very promising for the Lakers. If they keep this level, it’ll be hard for their rivals to beat them.

However, the playoffs are different than the regular season, and they need to prove their quality there. Three years after winning their last NBA championship, they have a new chance to make history, and if they do so, this will be one of the most impressive runs in recent history.
