Kevin Garnett Calls Anthony Davis A “F***ing Beast” For His Recent Dominance

Kevin Garnett had previously questioned if Anthony Davis could step up in LeBron James' absence, and he praised the big man for his recent dominant stretch.

When LeBron James went down with a foot injury in February earlier this year, all eyes were on Anthony Davis.

There were many who were wondering if the big man could carry the load in LeBron’s absence, and Kevin Garnett was one of them. For the most part, Davis did a great job, and on his Ticket & The Truth show, Garnett praised AD for stepping up.

“I want to go ahead and give a big fella his flowers,” Garnett said. “Anthony Davis, if you can hear this, this is what I’m talking about. How you’re playing right now, second and third effort, offensive rebounding, being a f***ing beast, being a dominant big man, this is what I wanted. This is how I wanted you to start the year. If you could start the year like this, we’d have been talking about Anthony Davis in the MVP race.”

The Lakers are 11-4 since KG called out Anthony Davis.

AD has been on a tear averaging 26.9 PPG, 12.4 RPG, and 3.1 APG in their last 15 games.

The Los Angeles Lakers are 11-4 since Garnett called Davis out, and he has played a big role in ensuring that the team finishes in the play-in spots, at the very least. As KG says, if AD had played like this all season, he’d probably have been in the MVP race. The Lakers will just be hoping now that he stays dominant the rest of the way and helps the team make some noise in the postseason.

Garnett also questioned the relationship between the two Lakers stars back then, as he felt they were not seeing eye to eye. Davis shut down those rumors about their troubled relationship, and LeBron also seemingly refuted the talks of a rift between them soon after.

James Worthy Spoke On How Anthony Davis Has Become A Dominant Player Again

Davis is now averaging 26.3 PPG, 12.4 RPG, 2.6 APG, 1.0 SPG, and 2.0 BPG this season. The scoring and rebounding numbers that he has put up, are career-highs as a member of the Lakers and he is finally playing how many expected him to, after winning that title back in 2020.

Following his 40-point outing against the Houston Rockets earlier this month, Lakers Legend James Worthy explained how Davis has returned to his dominant self. Worthy believes taking fewer three-pointers and instead focusing more on scoring in the paint has been a big reason for AD’s success. He also felt that Davis would have been fueled by the fact that he was no longer being regarded as one of the best players in the league.
