Shaquille O’Neal shocked NBA fans when he suddenly posted an image of himself on Twitter in a hospital bed a week or so ago.
Many were genuinely worried about O’Neal’s health when they first saw the picture. Shaq later revealed that he was getting hip replacement surgery, and there was no need for fans to worry about his health. Now, days after that Instagram post, Shaq posted a short clip of himself hitting the gym with crutches.
“About to get my game back, all you old dudes that hoop in @24hrfitness @lafitness @lifetimefitness, I’m coming for y’all.”
Shaquille O’Neal used an Instagram post to issue a warning to people his age playing basketball in a couple of gyms. O’Neal apparently wants to get back in shape and get back to playing the game of basketball as soon as possible.
Although the Diesel is still connected to the league as an NBA analyst, following the hip replacement surgery, he will be able to play the game again. But surely not at the level when he was in the NBA.
Shaquille O’Neal Vowed To Get Back In The Gym
Players getting out of shape after retiring from the NBA is nothing new. Shaquille O’Neal has been one of them since retiring from the league back in 2011. But that doesn’t mean he cannot get back in good shape, right?
In fact, in an interview with ‘PEOPLE,’ Shaq shared his desire to hit the gym after recovering from hip replacement surgery.
“I just had to take a couple of weeks off because I had to get this hip surgery, but I’m going to jump back on. So hopefully, this summer, you’ll see a couple of billboards of me with my shirt off. I think it’s a blessing in disguise because I can’t move around a lot, but my gym is at the house. So I know I don’t want to put on any pounds right now, so I gotta wake up every day, take my medicine, and when I go to the gym and do my rehab, I’m going to get some weights and some cardio in.”
It’s good to see Shaq taking care of his health while maintaining is ever-so-lovely hilarious side.
Fans will be excited to see what O’Neal has in store for them once his rehab is completed, and is good to play basketball again. Or is Shaq planning something completely different? We will find out this summer.
