Trae Young is one of the top players on the offensive end of the floor in the NBA. On any given night, if left unchecked, Young can explode for 30-plus points and change the outcome of the game.
Young has many skills in his arsenal. Be it his soft touch near the basket, knocking down deep three-pointers, or consistently getting to the free-throw line. However, there are times when Young tries a bit too hard to get foul calls. An NBA fan on Reddit noticed that during the Hawks’ recent matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The clip is almost two minutes long, and in the entire video, Young is seen trying to throw himself at the opponents in hopes of getting foul calls and scoring points from the free-throw line.
Trae Young was essentially going out of his way to hunt for fouls. For what it’s worth, the Hawks superstar succeeded in doing so as he went to the charity stripe 16 times against the Timberwolves. He ended the game by shooting 14-16 from the free-throw line.
As for his entire stat line, Young finished the game with 29 points, 2 rebounds, and 8 assists to his name. But it wasn’t enough, as the Hawks lost the game 124-125.
Trae Young Believes Referees Should Be Held Accountable For Missed Calls
A player like Trae Young loves to score a huge chunk of his points from the free-throw line. He may have mastered the art of getting to the charity stripe, but it feels like Young is still unsatisfied with the number of foul calls he has been getting.
Young recently talked about how referees should be fined and suspended for missing out on potentially game-changing foul calls.
“We don’t care now. We move! This goes back to my statement I said at the beginning of the year, refs should be held more accountable ($, suspensions, etc.) just like us. They shouldn’t get ‘We missed it’ passes.”
While Trae’s heart is in the right place, not many will take his call out seriously. After all, he is 8.7 free-throws per game in the 2022-23 NBA season. So, even if the refs miss a few calls against Young and the Hawks, fans usually do not get as angry as they may get for other players in the league.
