The concluding act of NBA All-Star weekend is always the best. After days of exciting highlights and memorable moments, it culminates into a big Sunday event that features the top players in the world going at it in a light-hearted scrimmage for the fans and for charity.

The game itself is what everyone comes to see, but the commentary from everyone’s favorite TNT crew helped make the game even more special for viewers.

In their typical fashion, Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, Ernie Johnson, and Kenny Smith were delivering one-liners and other jokes all throughout the night. But it was one moment in particular that went viral on Twitter Sunday night.

Before tip-off, the guys were asked to comment on the draft selections… and that’s when Barkley was accused of being drunk by Shaquille O’Neal.

It’s very possible that Chuck was at least a little tipsy, and he certainly sounded like it at first. Regardless, it was pretty wild for Shaq to call him out on national tv like that, with both LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo standing on stage in an awkward moment.

Other than that moment, the rest of the All-Star game was squeaky clean, and many fans are calling this weekend an enormous success.

2023 All-Star Weekend Was A Hit For The NBA

If you just look at the event shit year, it’s clear the NBA had a plan to keep each contest/event exciting and fresh. Admittedly, Utah isn’t the best market to host an All-Star game, but it somehow still set records and outperformed the expectations of many experts.

“State Farm All-Star Saturday Night, highlighted by the Philadelphia 76ers’ Mac McClung’s performance in the AT&T Slam Dunk, generated more than half a billion video views in the first 12 hours. The 520M views are the most-ever for an All-Star Saturday night and continue to grow.”

This year’s All-Star celebration was a great treat for the fans and an encouraging sign for the NBA’s future. If they follow this path and continue to make adjustments that add to the quality of the All-Star experience, good things will come.

Regardless, we can definitely call this year a success for the league, and they’ve given us all a lot of reasons to be hopeful about All-Star weekend moving forward.

Let’s just hope that Barkley stays sober next time…
