Nikola Jokic is once again posting a terrific campaign with the Denver Nuggets, leading them to have the best record in the Western Conference (41-18), only one game behind the league-best, which belongs to the Boston Celtics (42-17).
The Nuggets are showing that they are the real deal and are finally ready to compete against anybody in the NBA and make it to the Finals, as the Serbian player keeps trying to win that championship. This season, the situation looks very favorable for them, and even after the Western Conference welcomed incredible players like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the Nuggets remain strong at the top.
This situation could greatly benefit Jokic, who is leading the 2023 MVP race. The big man has stated he doesn’t want to win any more MVP awards, but the rest of the NBA doesn’t think the same, and many are already crowning him the rightful MVP of the 2022-23 season.
Nikola Jokic Is On His Way To Win Back-To-Back-To-Back MVP Awards
To put things into perspective, media members also think this way. ESPN conducted a poll to know what players media members think should win the 2023 MVP award as of right now, with the Joker finishing at the top.
He collected 913 total points, getting 77 first-position votes, 15 second-position votes, 7 third-position votes and one for the fourth position. In this poll, Giannis Antetokounmpo comes 2nd, while Joel Embiid closes out the top 3. Besides these three, only Jayson Tatum (5) and Luka Doncic (1) received first-place votes.

Jokic is currently averaging 24.7 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 10.1 assists while shooting 63.2% from the field, and 82.2% from the free-throw line.
If Jokic wins another MVP award this season, he would make history as the first NBA player to win three consecutive MVPs for the first time since 1986, when Larry Bird won his third and final MVP award. This would be a terrific achievement for Jokic, but he’s still stated that he’s not interested in that and would rather compete for bigger things with his team.
Well, seeing how the season is developing, it seems hard not to see Jokic winning his third consecutive MVP award. The Nuggets are the No. 1 team in the West, and if they keep this level, it will be hard to see Jokic losing the award. Still, players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid could make a push for the coveted award, but right now, it looks like Jokic is a lock for it.
