NBA fans took digs at former Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka after the franchise named Joe Mazzulla as the permanent head coach.

Mazzulla took the reins after Udoka was suspended for “violation of team policies” after he was found to have a consensual relationship with one of the female staffers within the organization.

Soon after Udoka’s suspension, Mazzulla was named interim coach, and with the breaking announcement, it appears the former’s time with the team is officially over. And having their say were fans who trolled Udoka.

The Celtics have been on a scintillating run with a 42-17 record in the East. They have been one of the teams to beat this season, justifying why Mazzulla deserved the position.

Boston Celtics’ Brad Stevens Lauds ‘Talented Coach’ Joe Mazzulla

Speaking about Mazzulla’s naming as head coach, Celtics president of basketball operations, Brad Stevens was lavish in his praise.

Per CBS Sports, Stevens called the now-permanent coach a talented and natural leader who spurred the team to be where they are.

As he has shown, Joe is a very talented coach and leader,” said Brad Stevens, Boston Celtics president of basketball operations, according to CBS Boston. “He has a unique ability to galvanize a room around a mission. We are thankful for the work he has done to help get us to this point, and excited that he has agreed to lead us into the future.”

Mazzulla has also been appointed as the head coach for Team Giannis for the All-Star game, and on his part, the former wasn’t exactly enthused. Going by his lack of enthusiasm, it looks like he’s laser-focused on helping the Celtics win a title this season — something they are actually favorites for.

But for now, he has a reason to celebrate, as do Celtics fans, who have been mighty impressed with his work so far this season.
