Jaren Jackson Jr. is one of the best defenders in the NBA; he has emerged as a real force on that side of the ball during his young career. Jackson has been valued by the Memphis Grizzlies for a long time, they even gave him a huge contract. And even though he has trouble with fouling from time to time, the Grizzlies are undoubtedly better when he plays.

A bizarre story about him, which was mostly a theory, went viral on social media recently, with a fan claiming that the Memphis Grizzlies‘ scorekeepers were inflating Jaren Jackson Jr.’s statistics. They pointed out that his numbers were very different in home games and away games, generally taking up the issue regarding his massive numbers of blocks and steals.

“I am referring to Jaren Jackson Jr., who, after having missed ~16 games to start the season due to off-season foot surgery immediately started having extreme outlier high steals + blocks statistics, leading the entire NBA in blocks per game by a wide margin. In fewer minutes per game than other players Jaron Jackson repeatedly gets outlandish block numbers at home.”

This theory gained enough traction for the NBA themselves to address it, and they debunked the notion before it became a narrative around the Grizzlies star. And while some may consider the case closed, Jaren Jackson seemingly wanted to get the last word in.

Jaren Jackson Jr. Had A Big Reaction After The Theory That His Stats Were Inflated Went Viral

The Memphis Grizzlies snapped a 5-game losing streak with a win against the Indiana Pacers, in large part thanks to 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 blocks from JJJ. Even before the game, though, Jackson went to ensure that nobody would be able to question his prowess again, having a conversation at the scorer’s table.

Jaren Jackson Jr. said he went to the Grizzlies scorer’s table before tonight’s game vs. Indiana and asked: “Who’s helping me over here?”

Didn’t actually read the Reddit post but declared “I beat the case.”

If something of this nature was happening at the highest level, which is the NBA, then it would have been noticed much before this. This has become a case of ‘much ado about nothing,’ and hopefully, the matter won’t be taken further than it already has been. It’s been a nice verification of the fact that his numbers do make him a serious candidate in the race for the Defensive Player Of the Year award.
