The Brooklyn Nets looked like a team that might struggle to even make the playoffs through the first month of the season. The team kept losing games under head coach Steve Nash and was dealing with internal turmoil every day.
Kyrie Irving was suspended, Kevin Durant was coming off a trade request, and Jacques Vaughn was appointed as head coach to replace Nash. However, Vaughn coming in has changed the franchise completely, as the Nets have lost only one game in December and are sitting with a 22-10 record after an impressive 125-117 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Fans are excited to see the Nets re-establish themselves as contenders.

Kyrie and Durant are reaching the iconic Iverson and Melo stage as a duo already. This team didn’t win, but they live forever in hoop history because of the excitement they brought. 9 straight wins for Brooklyn. Last two coming against Milwaukee and Cleveland. Jacque Vaughn deserves a ton of credit for what he’s doing. Also TJ Warren is making a major impact.

TJ Warren out here looking like he did doing Bubble Season!!!! God Bless America.

TJ Warren was the best signing of the off-season, by any team.
— Jac Manuell (@JacManuell) December 27, 2022
Darius Garland was the best individual player on the night, scoring 46 and trying to will the Cavaliers to a win. However, 32 points each from Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving along with solid performances by Ben Simmons and TJ Warren was too much to overcome for Cleveland, whose record is now tied with the Nets.
Are The Brooklyn Nets Title Contenders Once Again?
After the turbulent summer in Brooklyn, may have written the Nets off a run to the title. The season started badly for them and reinforced everyone’s notions that a championship is not in the cards for the Nets. However, they’re proving on the court that they just needed to get all the distractions out of the way and focus on playing ball.
Kyrie Irving will be a free agent at the end of the year and could leave the team, so the Nets do have a lot to play for this year, as the Irving-KD duo might just be in their final year together.
