The Boston Celtics have had the fortune of drafting one of the most talented players in recent history, Jayson Tatum. Since getting drafted into the league, Tatum has only gotten better with each passing season. He even led the Celtics to the NBA Finals last season.

So it’s evident that the Boston Celtics are incredibly reliant on Jayson Tatum and his talent. However, the 24-year-old was unavailable for the Celtics against the Orlando Magic. While the Celtics have had a great season so far, they are going through a rough patch right now. They even lost against the Orlando Magic in the absence of Jayson Tatum. But there was a good reason for Tatum to miss the game.

Why Did Jayson Tatum Miss The Game Against The Magic?

There are many reasons why any given player may miss a game during the regular season. Sometimes it’s due to injuries, but there are times when players take time off for personal reasons. In this particular case, the latter was true, and Tatum missed the game due to celebrating the birthday of his son Deuce Tatum. The reason seems pretty obvious, but it was found out by an NBA fan online.

“Before anyone freaks out, on Snapchat Deuce is having a huge birthday bonanza and it looks like all his family is in town. It looks like he’s just taking the day off lol”

Usually, when a player unexpectedly misses a game, it’s due to an injury or for any personal reason. But considering the fact that Tatum had a heartwarming reason, not many reacted to it in a negative manner.

Why tf legion hoops asking us our thoughts on another man spending time with his son?

This is superstar treatment in NBA. You get to take days off whenever you feel like it. It used to be that if you were healthy you played.

Fans need to stop putting up with this stuff.

Father is first over anything.

fym thoughts? a man deciding to spend time with his son is none of our business. y’all lame

— ⁷ (@SEVNTHOMAS) December 21, 2022

this is why this man will never be MVP. Jayson isn't even MVP on his own team. does he want it bad enough??

Dad rather spend the whole day with his kid than play a NBA Game?

I don’t see the problem

— 𝔹𝕠𝕝𝕨𝕣𝕝𝕕 (@BolWrld) December 21, 2022

Wym thoughts? He’s a father first then NBA player lmao

— ☘️ (@CookedByDevy) December 21, 2022

Tatum will play a lot more games in his career than his son will have birthdays 🤷‍♂️

— miserably depressed Kings fan (@WeStillSuck) December 21, 2022

Yall digging too deep lol… it was against the magic. One of the worst teams in the league and its not a “must win game”. I dont see the problem at all. Only reason why people mad, because they lost. Its over with now, on to the next one.

He’s being a good dad? I don’t see an issue here

Jayson Tatum may be a candidate to win the MVP award this season, but spending time with his family is certainly important, and he chose that. Most fans accepted that decision. There were still a few who wanted Tatum to rather play an NBA game than spend the time with his son.
